Company:
Our client is a multinational Project Management and Engineering firm which operates in the railway sector. They are currently involved with the management of the Design of a new metro project in Saudi Arabia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing the team of Quantity Surveyors and Measurement Technicians.
Develops and establishes ability to budget MEP work without 100% of documentation to the point of developing ability to conceptually budget, visualize and plan a project.
Preparing of construction related cost estimates, cost plans, and cost strategies.
Reviews drawings and specifications to determine scope and quantities to calculate pricing.
Determines quantities of materials in various trades by using estimating department software.
Preparing Revenue and Project Status report.
Preparing project billing forecast.
Verifying & checking payment and variation claims for all jobs before submission to Main Contractor.
Verifying & checking EOT /Prolongation / Acceleration claims for all jobs before submission to Main Contractor.
Attending meeting with client/main contractor for negotiation of claims & variations.
Guiding all project managers for achieving billing as per the forecast.
Attending meeting regularly with main contractor for payment and variation related issues.
Assessing internal variation of subcontractors.
Preparing final account on completion of works.
Verifying & checking material and installation cost for all services, prepared by tender departments for bid submission.
Attending meetings with subcontractors for negotiation and clarification of the commercial & contractual related issues in subcontract signing stage.
Verifying BOQ for Errors before submitting for updates.
Preparation of studies and plans on value engineering, life cycle costing, and sustainable practices
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying/ Bachelor in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Studying for MRICS
At least 7 years post graduate experience in MEP working for PQS / QS Consultants and ideally some time working for a Contractor on MEP works
Experience on New Build, Refurbishment and Fit-out projects in MEP is highly preferred
Should have been in the MEP industry for at least 7 years
Should have commercial / QS experience in the GCC.
